With tight deadlines, I would have liked to spend more time testing with end users.
A design system isn't right for every project, but on a data-heavy SaaS, it saves precious time.
This project dates back to when I was working at my agency, charrette.club. EDF wanted to have the components of a suite of predictive maintenance apps designed (and built), and I took charge of the design. Beyond the visual side, it took me a lot of time to understand the project and master it inside out. Before opening Figma, I really challenged the client on user journeys and features.
A design system had been prepared beforehand, which let me focus on the user journeys and screens despite tight deadlines.
I don't think a design system is right for every project, but it was for this one.
Lots of tables, lots of numbers... Either way, Yxir is live and it's a success. I'm really glad I got to contribute to this project, and I learned a lot.
